Better Way co-learning lab: shifting the dial on race equity
We are currently inviting applications to join the next Better Way Co-Learning Lab, which will have a focus on shifting the dial on race equity.
To be clear, this is not race awareness training, but rather an energising and interactive space for people who are committed to practical action to promote race equity, whether in their own organisation, or their community, or in wider society.
As we have discussed in the Better Way Network, we know this is a difficult and fearful time for those who seek to shift the dial on race equity. But we can go where the positive energy is and discover allies, including White colleagues, and nurture and protect ‘leadership bubbles’ where we can become better organised, encouraging and challenging each other in a safe and stimulating space. And we can become braver at listening to those who hold very different views, to understand better what they too are fearful of, and what might bring us together rather than drive us further apart.
In this Co-Learning Lab we will bring together a small committed group of people, in a series of in-person and on-line meetings over a nine-months period, starting in Autumn 2026. We are keen to have a mix of people of Colour and White people, from different sectors and from different parts of the country.
Each person in the group will bring their particular ambition, and will benefit from support, challenge and encouragement from others in the group, as well as exploring how the Better Way principles and behaviours can help them make progress with their goals.
The Co-Learning Lab will be facilitated by Arvinda Gohil, Better Way convenor, who has built up a national reputation for her work in this field over many years, with support from Steve Wyler, Better Way co-founder.
For those who are able to make a financial contribution, there is a standard fee of £2,000. For those where this fee would present a barrier, we are able to offer bursaries, thanks to support from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
If you’d like to find out what we did in our first co-learning lab, the summary report is here.
