Bulletin #23, January 2023

As we enter 2023, we sense that networks like the Better Way will be needed more than ever before, and we do hope to see you soon.

It was great to see so many of you at our Annual Gathering last month, where we reviewed what we’d learnt during last year and discussed what we need to do in future to make a Better Way the norm, not the exception.  It’s clear we’re making some real progress but need to be even more ambitious in pushing for change in the face of the challenges you’ll know all too well.  There was no shortage of ideas or energy about what could be done to push things in a more positive direction.

So, if you feel in need of a January boost, do dip into At a Tipping Point?, which captures your input right across the year, not just at the Gathering.  We are sure that you will find much in it to ward off any icy blasts.

Looking ahead, we’ve lined up some Spring meetings, with more to follow shortly.  Do check out the events below and book your place - and keep an eye on our events page for other sessions coming soon. We’ll also update you by email.

Very best wishes,

AN INVITATION TO FORTHCOMING BETTER WAY EVENTS

To join any of the following or to find out more please go to our forthcoming events page, or click on the individual links below, or you can email info@betterway.network. New participants are always very welcome, and we look forward to seeing old friends as well.

Better leadership for health and care. Why isn’t command and control working in driving improvements in health and care, and what do we need in its place? This is a series of two meetings, open to all those interested in finding better ways of bringing about a healthy society and providing care and support when people need it.

Creating a relational welfare state.  Why do we need a relational welfare state, creating health and well-being within the community, and what do we need to do to make it happen?

FORTNIGHTLY WEDNESDAY "DROP IN" MEETINGS

Every two weeks we hold an informal Zoom event for people in our network ‘family’ who would like to say hello, share news, exchange ideas, get something off your chest, and just check in with each other. It’s also a good way for people new to the network to get to know us and explore what we can offer.

All meetings are on Wednesday mornings from 9am to 10am, online.

As well as events listed here more will be posted on our website soon, so do keep an eye on our forthcoming events page.

About a Better Way: We are a network of people across society exploring how to improve services, build community and create a fairer society. Together we have drawn up eight principles and a model of behaviour change for a Better Way. Our recent publication Building a Bigger We contains 36 short essays by Better Way members, which illustrate our thinking. The network is hosted by Civil Exchange, and is currently supported by the John Ellerman Foundation and Lloyds Bank Foundation. You can find out more, contact us, and indeed join us, via our website here: http://www.betterway.network/. If you don’t want to receive future bulletins, simply send an email to let us know: info@betterway.network
