A BETTER WAY, SOCIAL INSIGHTS PANEL AND TEST, LEARN AND GROW

The new Social Insights Panel, chaired by Better Way member, Polly Neate, has been set up with the Future Governance Forum to draw together the  insight and knowledge of leaders– from community activists to national leaders – on how to drive transformational change on cross-cutting, ‘wicked’ challenges.  As well as driving a national debate, it will feed ideas into the Cabinet Office’s Test, Learn and Grow programme.

A Better Way is hosting workshops on specific policy areas being explored by the Social Insights Panel, so that members can contribute their grass roots knowledge, experience and insight into this work.  The specific topics for 2025 are:

Violence Against Women and Girls

How systems can better support early prevention of violence against women and girls, with a particular focus on misogyny and systemic cultures.

Transitions to Adulthood

Improving transitions to adult services for young people at risk of “falling through the net”, including those with SEND.

Integrated Family Support

Shifting the focus of family services towards preventing harm and the obstacles that get in the way.

If you have any case studies or ideas that you think might be usefully explored at these events, do get in touch with Caroline Slocock@civilexchange.org.uk.

At our 2025 annual conference in November, we will also be discussing how to tackle the cross-cutting challenges that hinder innovation and transformational change in these and other areas -  what we call the government’s ‘operating model’ – which will also contribute to this work.
